The Denali Park Road is 92 miles long, but note that only the first 15 miles are accessible by private car. So, to explore glorious Denali National Park further, you’ll have to take the hop-on hop-off shuttle bus. This does qualify this road as a scenic drive, though! The Hatcher Pass Scenic Drive makes for a superb three-hour roundtrip from Anchorage. About 22 miles of it is gravel, though, so make sure you get a sturdier rental car. The road across the pass is only open in summer, and you will need a high-clearance vehicle to safe traverse it.
