The unofficial capital of New England, Boston is chock-full of history and architecture. Spend a day or two exploring the city before picking up your RV and heading out into the northeastern wilderness.

Boston lies within easy road trip distance from fantastic outdoorsy destinations, such as Acadia National Park, the White Mountains and Cape Cod. Whether you like sandy beaches, granite mountain peaks, pristine forests and lighthouse-dotted shores, you’ll find it all here.

Washington, D.C.

The capital of the United States, Washington, D.C. deserves at least one full day of your time and attention. Charlotte, North Carolina

Atlanta, Georgia

Home to the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta in Georgia is probably the easiest of these East Coast RV road trip hubs to get to. Check out the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola and Centennial Olympic Park before picking up your RV.

Note that the best destinations reachable from Atlanta require a bit more driving than other cities mentioned here. But you’re road tripping anyway, so that shouldn’t be an issue, right? Cruise to Charleston or Savannah for a dose of beautiful architecture, colonial history and all-round coastal fun. Or head to Chattanooga for a small city experience in the South, combined with nature. Great Smoky Mountains National Park also lie within driving distance from Atlanta.

Miami, Florida
